Aloha,
Despite inaccurate news reporting by Civil Beat, Sandwich Isles Broadband Service (SIBS) does participate in the federal Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBBP), which can help subsidize your internet bill. SIBS has a number of customers already enrolled in this program that the federal government established temporarily to help during this COVID-19 pandemic period. Although we do not know when the federal government will end EBBP, we do know that if you qualify, you can register to get the subsidy as well.
In order to determine whether you are qualified, go to
https://getemergencybroadband.org/ to apply for the EBBP. If you are qualified, please forward your application approval email confirmation to
spt@sandwichisles.com and provide the full name of the applicant and their date of birth in your email. A customer service representative will reach out to you with further instructions after receipt of your application approval email confirmation.
SIBS is a participating service provider in this program and because you live on tribal lands, you can qualify for a credit of up to $75.00. The EBBP credit will only cover the bundle or internet service rate you are charged each month. You will be responsible to pay for all taxes, government fees and any other charges not covered under the EBBP (i.e. activation fees, reconnection fees, service fees and labor charges).
Please feel free to contact our customer service department if you have any questions. You can also access information about the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program by visiting
